Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is one of the most misinterpreted illnesses which is many times not even diagnosed and the person suffers continuously, considering it as severe tiredness and weakness. However, tiredness can get normal with rest and with the help of some vitamins in case of certain deficiency. But, fatigue is a continuously ongoing condition that does not even get better with rest, food supplements, or nutritious food. Also, till now there is no specific medical test to diagnose CFS and is basically a severe deliberating syndrome which persists for six months or longer or can even continue throughout the life. Sometimes, it is also accompanied with other medical symptoms.

Causes of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
The research does not show any confirmed cause for the condition, however, there are different causes which may trigger CFS. Some of them are listed below.
Viral infection: CFS may be caused due to the attack of some viruses like Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), human herpes virus 6, Ross River virus (RRV), rubella, Coxiella burnetti, etc. 
Immune dysfunction: Due to immunologic malfunction, sometimes, chronic fatigue syndrome may happen. The inadequate production of inflammatory cytokines causes immunologic malfunction. As a result, an excessive amount of nitric oxide is produced which leads to fatigue.
Hormonal imbalances: Several medical studies have claimed that people with chronic fatigue syndrome have lower levels of cortisol hormone. 

Symptoms of CFS
  • Poor memory or improper concentration
  • Lack of freshness even after a night’s sleep
  • Chronic insomnia or sleep disorders
  • Muscle pain
  • Frequent headaches
  • Joint pain without swelling
  • Sore throat
  • Tender lymph nodes in your neck 
Treatment of CFS
There is no specific medical treatment for CFS. However, various types of treatments are available to help control the symptoms, manage the problem, and cope up with this disease. 
  • Making some changes to your lifestyle can help you to get rid of some of the symptoms. You must try to eliminate caffeine from your diet so that you can sleep better and overcome your insomnia. 
  • Try to limit your alcohol consumption. Too much alcohol may alter your sleep pattern aggravating the problem. 
  • Make a sleep routine. Try to sleep and get up at the same time every day. If you feel sleepy, take a nap. Do not remain on the bed for too long if you are not able to sleep.  
  • Two types of therapies are beneficial for CFS. One is psychological counselling and the other one is physical therapy. 
  • Ginseng is an herb that has been used in Asia for many years as it enhances the energy level. Medical studies have proved that it has the capacity to increase your energy. The medical experts and researchers have also discovered that ginseng improves cellular immune function.
  • Try to consume vitamin B3. Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide (NADH) is a naturally occurring particle that is present in vitamin B3. This molecule is very pertinent for the production of energy at the cellular level.
  • You can also treat CFS using Ayurveda. Ayurvedic herbs like triphala, ashwagandha, amla, bala, triphala, and lomatium are very effective in treating the symptoms of CFS. 
  • Alternative medicines like acupuncture, yoga, and massage are also good in alleviating the pain that is associated with CFS. But always talk to your doctor before starting anything. 
Chronic fatigue syndrome is a troubling illness that can affect anyone irrespective of the age. But you can overcome this disease with proper care, medication, and management.
