Migraines are very intense headache and a feeling of having an upcoming migraine gives phobia to the patients. It comes with a few prior signals or an aura which are known as classical migraines and others without an aura known as common migraines. Reports show women three times more prone to the disease than men and a family history with migraine headache is one of the common risk factors.

There are treatments available for migraine cure as well as preventive measures and management tips. Many times, people living with migraine stop seeking the treatment due to its ineffectiveness and leave with this sticky headache. The best way to tackle this problem is to identify the triggers or causes of migraines and take preventive measures.

People have varying response to food items and sometimes these food can also trigger a migraine, sinus headache, or tension headache.
  1. Processed food, packaged food, and food with preservatives.
  2. Dairy products, red wine, baked food, nuts, or chocolates.
  3. Certain odours, perfumes, car or room fresheners, or smoke.
  4. Loud music, noise, sound, and bright lights.
  5. Alcohol
Your action: Maintain a food diary and your outdoor & indoor routine. This will help you identify as what triggers your headache and eliminate that from your routine.

Apart from keeping an eye on your triggers, there are ways to manage your migraine symptoms at home. Even if it does not cure your problem completely, at least it will lessen the intensity of the pain.

What to do when you get a migraine? 
Migraine comes with its own flair that does not let you think what to do. The first thing is to keep calm and give rest to your brain. Do not indulge in any stressful activity as it can aggravate the symptoms. Any negative thought or tension is not good.
  1. Sit in a cool, dark, and quiet room where you get peace.
  2. If your headaches are accompanied with vomiting, then keep sipping water to keep yourself hydrated.
  3. Put cool cloth or a band on your head to lessen the pain.
  4. Take pain killers as suggested by the doctor for headache relief.
  5. Take enough sleep, deprivation of which may lead to rebound headaches.
